The Museum was born on the original legacy left by Sigismondo Ala Ponzone (1761-1842). It is a very important collection because Sigismondo Ala Ponzone was himself a collector, a naturalist and a preparer.
Other collections, donated especially by some local naturalists, were added in the following years.
The path proposed in the Museum is divided in sections and it starts with the historical section, mainly made up of the original Ala Ponzone’s legacy . And then, an overview over the single disciplines: mineralogy, palaeontology, zoology, and the analysis of the territory. The analysis of the natural environment, and, in particular of the urban one, allow to introduce a very important theme applied to the local situation: an analysis of biodiversity. The space dedicated to the didactics, is a multidisciplinary area which invites the visitors to think about how the men use the resources of their territory, and about the relationship river/town which has always characterized the history of our community.
